As you walk you get a real sense of the challenges faced by the settlers arriving in the Canadian wilderness, in October, with only a few personal belongings and tents for shelter. A short tribute is held on the beach at the commemorative cairn before returning to the museum to celebrate the establishment of New Iceland and perhaps more importantly to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee after a nippy fall walk.
